Parkersburg man pleads guilty to federal drug crime

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – A Parkersburg man pleaded guilty Thursday to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

On April 8, 2024, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop near Parkersburg on a vehicle driven by David Eric West II, 42.

Officers found methamphetamine and fentanyl in the vehicle.

Officers also found a Taurus G3C 9mm pistol on West's person.

West admitted that he possessed the controlled substances and intended to distribute them in and around the Southern District of West Virginia.

West faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years of supervised release, and a $1,000,000 fine.

His sentencing is scheduled for March 3, 2025.
