UMN employee accused of spying in men's locker room

A University of Minnesota employee has been charged and placed on leave from his job after he was accused of spying on someone in a locker room.

What we know

A criminal complaint accuses Nathan Bentley, 29, of spying on another person and touching himself in the locker room shower stalls at the University of Minnesota Recreation Center on Harvard Street SE.

The victim reported the incident to University of Minnesota staff on the day of the incident, October 4th. University police were notified on October 9th.

Using surveillance video and building access information, officers were able to identify Bentley as a suspect.

Bentley is accused of invasion of privacy and indecent disclosure.

The University of Minnesota tells FOX 9 Bentley has been placed on leave.

In an online profile, Bentley is listed as a residence hall manager – but the university was unable to confirm his exact job title.

Later that month, on October 25, university police sent out an alert about another spying incident at the same recreation center.

In this incident, a victim reported that a man used his cell phone to film the victim through a crack in the shower.

It is not clear whether this incident has any connection to Bentley's case. According to the university, Bentley was placed on leave on October 15 – 10 days before the second incident.
