Starting Five: Badgers host Montana State

1. FINAL TIME-OUT

Wisconsin came from behind for an 85-61 win over Holy Cross on Monday. The Badgers were down 16 points early in the game, but outscored the Crusaders 80-40 as the game progressed. Graduate transfer guard John Tonje scored 23 points in the contest, the most by a Badger in his debut since at least 2000. Additionally, he grabbed five rebounds while going 3-for-6 from 3-point range.

The Badgers were also helped by sophomores John Blackwell and Nolan Winter. Winter shot 6 of 6 from the field in the second half and finished with 15 points, the most of his career. Blackwell finished the game just two points shy of his career high, scoring 16 points. It was the first time since 2017 that three Badgers scored 15 or more points in the season opener.

Wisconsin had two big scoring runs, 18-2 in the first half and 16-0 in the second half. The Badgers also had the advantage on the glass as they outrebounded Holy Cross 38-21 and scored 13 points off offensive rebounds.
