In 2012, Thompson was sentenced to eight years in prison for multiple home invasions on the Southeast Side that turned violent.

“He beat up the residents. He beat up women. He put a gun to their heads, it was brazen and brazen,” said Andy Kahan of Crime Stoppers.

In March 2022, Judge Hill sentenced Thompson to a deferred probation after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of a weapon.

“Within three months he will be charged again with additional violent crimes,” Kahan said. “Another aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in which he also allegedly shot the victim.”

Instead of revoking his probation and sending Thompson back to prison, Judge Josh Hill set bail at just $70,000.

“Given his violent past, he's making a really poor bond,” Kahan said.

He turned himself in on Tuesday.
