Jameis Winston says he's preparing to show he's “a great NFL starter” on Sunday

Browns quarterback Jameis Winston has been a backup for much of the past five years, but he starts Sunday and believes he will show he is much more than just a backup.

Winston, who will start against the Ravens in place of the injured Deshaun Watson, said he is not just a good starter, but a great starter.

“I look at this as an opportunity to go out and do my best, and if I do my best, I'll be a great NFL starter,” Winston said.

Winston said he was looking forward to starting on Sunday.

“I am extremely grateful to have another opportunity to do what the Lord has called me to do in the NFL, and that is to be an NFL starting quarterback. “I am extremely grateful for that, I am prepared and “I’ll do my best,” Winston said.

Realistically, if the 30-year-old Winston was going to prove he was a great starting quarterback, he probably would have done so by now. But he has talent and played well at times. And he couldn't possibly be worse than Watson.
