Two robbery suspects were arrested after a police chase in San Jose

Two armed robbery suspects were arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to San Jose police. The incident happened just before 1 p.m. According to police, the suspects then fled to a residential area where they were arrested.

“A black car came in and the police were hot on its heels. A few guys got out of the car, ran through backyards and the police started chasing them,” said Vijay Challa of San Jose.

Challa says he lives near Sandpoint Drive and was involved in police activity when he tried to leave the area.

“When I went to pick up my daughter, they actually searched my trunk and then told me they wouldn't let you back in,” Challa said.

According to San Jose police, an armed robbery occurred at Toyon Road and Holly Drive just before 1 p.m. The suspects fled in a car into this residential area on Quimby Road and then ran until they were caught near the intersection of Britt Way and Ramsdell Place. A woman showed Ring camera footage to police when they arrived near her home.

“You see cops, SWAT and guns outside your house and you worry. So it's just a matter of making sure your pet is safe inside and no one has left the back door open. No fuss like that. So just make sure everything is safe, OK,” said Yajaira Marquez of San Jose.

After police arrested two suspects, police cordoned off surrounding streets for about five hours and continued the investigation. Police searched a home on Ramsdell Place and a home on Scottsdale Drive a block away. One of the suspects was also taken away from the scene in an ambulance while neighbors stood by and waited for it all to be over.

“I tried to explain that I'm right in front of the action, but they don't care if you're two blocks away or a block away. They just say you can’t go in,” Marquez said.

Marquez told us her dog was fine and safe inside the house during the arrest. San Jose police did not confirm any injuries or provide any additional information about the suspect, who was taken away by ambulance.
