Michaels: The Ravens' Mark Andrews' injury in 2023 against the Bengals was due to Logan Wilson's hip drop tackle

Amazon Prime Video play-by-play broadcaster Al Michaels called Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson's tackle of Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews last season a “hip-drop tackle,” although the NFL previously had made it clear that it wasn't one.

Michaels was talking about Andrews during the first half of the Week 10 NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football at M&T Bank Stadium when he made the “hip drop tackle” remark.

In November 2023, Andrews suffered a season-ending ankle injury during a tackle by Wilson. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor defended Wilson's tackling style, insisting it was not a hip-drop tackle.

Andrews had four catches for 55 yards in the Ravens' overtime win over the Bengals in October. He led the Ravens with three receptions for 34 yards in the first half on Thursday.
