Zac Taylor on winning at two: We came here to win

Bengals coach Zac Taylor has no doubts about his decision to go for two goals in the final minute of Thursday night's 35-34 loss to the Ravens.

“Came here to win. “I came here to win,” Taylor said when asked why he chose the unsuccessful two-point conversion.

As the Bengals initially lined up for the two-point conversion, Joe Burrow called a few signals but ultimately called a timeout before the game clock expired. Taylor said the Bengals were just trying to gain a free yard by putting the Ravens offside and knew they would call the timeout.

The Bengals have now lost two heartbreakers to the Ravens, on Thursday night and by one point in overtime in Week 5. Taylor acknowledged how tough it is to lose like that twice to a division rival.

“It’s disgusting that this happened to us twice,” Taylor said. “We have to find a way to finish these games. . . . We just have to find a way to make the last play to win the game.”

The loss moved the Bengals to 4-6 on the season, and Taylor said that doesn't reflect the kind of team he has.

“We have a good football team,” Taylor said. “Our balance sheet doesn’t yet show that.”
