Three arrested for assault of 71-year-old GA man

DOUGLAS – The GBI arrested three Georgia men on charges of aggravated assault and battery against a 71-year-old man.

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, the GBI and Georgia State Patrol arrested Rob Smith, Jr., 55, of Ambrose, GA, Dillon Smith, 18, of Ambrose, GA, and Carter Holley, 17, of Douglas, GA , causing serious bodily harm, aggravated assault and exploitation of an elderly person. Holley was also charged with terroristic threats. The charges are related to the assault of a 71-year-old man.

On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the GBI was requested by the Coffee County Sheriff's Office to investigate an assault that occurred on the evening of Monday, November 4, 2024, in the 4200 block of Vickers Crossing Road in Ambrose, Georgia , happened. The investigation indicates Rob Smith Jr., Dillon Smith and Holley assaulted a 71-year-old man following an argument over hunting land. During the attack, the three men repeatedly punched and kicked the victim and hit him with a walking stick.

All three were arrested at their homes without incident and taken to the Coffee County Jail.
