11 people arrested on drug charges in Martinsville

Eleven suspects were arrested Thursday on drug charges, Martinsville police said.

“These charges result from the Martinsville Police Department’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of illegal drugs and the harm they cause to our community,” MPD wrote in a statement. “Each arrest was made possible by the strong partnership built between the community and the Martinsville Police Department.”

Charges were brought against the following people:

  • Stephanie Nicole Carter: Distributing meth
  • Keith Allan Brim: Making cocaine
  • Ricardo Neville Thawe: Distributing Meth (2 counts)
  • Nicholas Allen Clouser: Possess meth
  • Misti Diane Williams: Possession with Intent to Distribute Meth (3rd offense, 2 counts)
  • Jessica Lynn Beal: Distribute Schedule 1 drugs, distribute Schedule 2 drugs
  • Danielle Renee Chappell: Possess fentanyl
  • Cory Roger Bragg: Possession with Intent to Distribute Meth (2nd Offense)
  • Buford Leander Preston: Possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled drug while possessing a firearm, possession of a schedule I/II drug, felony. Evade the police
  • Deandra Steven Candy: Distributing Meth (2 counts), Distributing Heroin, Distributing Fentanyl, Possession of a Firearm While Selling Schedule I/II Drugs, Possession of a Firearm by a Violent Felon
  • Leanna Marie Walker: Distributing Meth (2 counts)

The arrests came after a grand jury in Martinsville handed up 30 drug indictments Monday.

The charges against a total of 14 people were kept secret until the suspects could be arrested.

As of Thursday, 11 of the 14 people had been arrested and 23 of the 30 indictments had been served.
