The nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards are just around the corner. Here's what you should know

NEW YORK (AP) — The year 2025 Grammy Award The nominations are just around the corner – who will compete for the top prizes?

Nominees will be announced during a live video stream on the Grammy website and the Recording Academy's YouTube channel on Friday at 8 a.m. Pacific and 11 a.m. Eastern Time. It starts with a pre-show 15 minutes before.

Numerous talents are on board to announce the nominees, including Gayle King, Jim Gaffigan and a long list of previous Grammy winners: Brandy Clark, Kirk Franklin, David Frost, Robert Gordon, Kylie Minogue, Gaby Moreno, Deanie Parker and Ben Platt, Mark Ronson, Hayley Williams and last year Winner for Best New Artist, Victoria Monet.

Only recordings commercially released in the United States between September 16, 2023 and August 30, 2024 are eligible for nominations. So don't expect album nominations for Future's “Mixtape Pluto” (though there are for Future and Metro Boomin's “We Don't”). “Trust You” will most likely get a nomination), George Strait “Cowboys and Dreamers” Tyler, the Creator “chroma copy” or “Warrior” Lin-Manuel Miranda's first full-length post-“Hamilton” musical, starring Pulitzer finalist Eisa Davis.

There are many unknowns in the announcements: Will Beyonce And Post Malone receive Nominations in the country music categories after the success of their huge albums “Cowboy Carter” and “F-1 Trillion,” despite being megastars who have not yet been directly associated with the genre?

will Shaboozeys “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” the biggest song of the year that combines its country twang with the familiar sample from J Kwon’s 2004 rap hit “Tipsy,” dominates?

The 2025 Grammy Awards will air live on February 2 on CBS and Paramount+ from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
