Man convicted of killing Jersey City teen: prosecutor

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ – A Queens man was convicted Monday of killing a Jersey City teenager when both were teenagers, prosecutors said.

Justin Goris, 20, of Queens pleaded guilty in July to aggravated manslaughter in connection with the 2022 death of Devin Bryant, 15, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

On Monday, Judge Mitchell Pascual sentenced Goris to 15 years in the New Jersey State Prison.

Goris' sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act and he is not eligible for parole until 85 percent of his sentence is served, prosecutors said.

Goris, who was 17 at the time of the fatal shooting, was initially charged as a juvenile before being turned over to the criminal division, prosecutors said.
