Bank robbery suspect continues crime spree in Charlotte, police are asking for help identifying him

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Investigators with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department believe the same man is responsible for at least two bank robberies and two attempted bank robberies in Charlotte. All four incidents occurred within the last few days.

Investigators are now asking the community to help them identify the man responsible for the crimes.

The first known robbery occurred on Tuesday, October 29, at the Truist Bank on Freedom Drive in West Charlotte. Investigators said the man walked into the bank, waited patiently to speak to a teller and then gave the clerk a note.

“He presents the note to the clerk and basically says, 'Give me the money or else,'” explained Detective Jacqueline Clyburn of CMPD Crime Stoppers.

Clyburn said the man got money from the teller and then fled the bank.

According to police, the robber stole cash from a Fifth Third Bank on Reddman Road in east Charlotte on Monday, November 4th.

Investigators believe the same man also attempted to rob a Fifth Third Bank on Camden Road in South End on Thursday, November 7th. Clyburn said the man also returned to the Truist Bank on Freedom Drive on Thursday and tried to rob it again. She said he was unable to steal money in any of these attempts.

The detective said police now believe the man is bald and wears fake dreadlocks as a disguise.

She said investigators received tips about the robber based on previous reports from WBTV. It still encourages more people to reveal information about the person.

Anyone with information about the bank robberies is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Tipsters can remain anonymous and receive a cash reward if they have information that leads to an arrest. Community members can also submit crime tips via the P3 Tips app.
