Miami Gardens man accused of stabbing victim in Hialeah after being told to 'get a job'

HIALEAH, Fla. — A 39-year-old Miami Gardens man was arrested Thursday after stabbing another man in Hialeah, authorities said.

According to an arrest report from the Hialeah Police Department, the stabbing occurred just before 7:40 a.m. in a parking lot at 774 W. 84th St.

Police said the victim told officers he was sitting in his car with another person when Eddy Castillo, who he knew, walked up to his car and tried to stab him in the neck.

According to police, the victim raised his arm and suffered a severe cut to his left arm that required 12 stitches.

According to the arrest report, the attack occurred after the victim told Castillo to “get a job.”

Police said they found Castillo a short time later at his Miami Gardens home and he claimed that the victim and witness in the vehicle were insulting him.

He said he also saw the victim show the tip of a blade in the car, authorities said. Further statements from Castillo were redacted from the publicly released report.

Castillo was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder and armed burglary with assault or battery.

As of Friday morning, Castillo remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bail had not yet been set.
