Massachusetts Democrat Seth Moulton under pressure over 'vile' transgender comments after election: 'Find another job'

Congressman Seth Moulton is coming under fire for his “transphobic” post-election comments when he said he didn't want his daughters to be “run over on the field by a male or former male athlete.”

In his criticized remarks, the Massachusetts Democrat blamed his party for the Republican red wave and Donald Trump's victory and said Democrats are “out of touch with the American people,” particularly on transgender issues.

“I have two little girls. I don't want them to be run over on the field by a male or former male athlete. But as a Democrat, I should be afraid to say that,” Moulton reportedly told a New York Times reporter following Tuesday’s election.

The Salem Democrat is now under fire for those comments, as the Witch City mayor and school committee released a statement to families Friday regarding Moulton's comments.

“The Salem School Committee and district leaders strongly condemn Congressman Seth Moulton’s comments regarding children’s sports participation,” Mayor Dominick Pangallo and committee members wrote in the message to families.

“Congressman Moulton’s comments regarding trans and non-binary children do not reflect our values,” the officials added.

Salem City Councilman Kyle Alexander Davis called Moulton's comments “hate speech.”

“I have absolutely no patience for this transphobic nonsense,” Davis wrote on social media. “This is a terrible time to be queer. Suicide hotlines serving the LGBTQ+ community can't keep up with the volume of people in crisis, and that's how our congressman spends his time. I want people to understand that this sorry excuse for a leader does not speak for Salem.”

“…the trans community is a blessing and any statement that seeks to scapegoat them is abhorrent,” the councilor added. “I do not believe Seth Moulton is fit for office – every day he continues to represent us in DC undermines the fact that he does not represent our values. I am deeply sorry to the trans community who, in addition to the shock and fear they are already feeling, have had to fall victim to the hate speech of their own congressman.”

Boston state Rep. John Moran also didn't hold back in his reaction to Moulton's comments.

“No, Seth Moulton, the one thing we shouldn’t shy away from here in Massachusetts is that if you want to use an election loss as an opportunity to prey on our most vulnerable, you should find another job,” Moran posted. “Weak!”
