Four teenagers were arrested for attacking an elderly man with a stone and a tree branch

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Sarasota police have arrested three juveniles and one adult and charged them with the brutal beating of a 67-year-old man.

At approximately 2 a.m. on October 13, officers were called to South Orange Avenue for reports of a battery.

A 67-year-old man told police he was beaten by four young men who allegedly punched him and hit him with a tree branch. The suspects also reportedly threw a rock at the victim, causing a visible wound.

The victim described the suspects as four young white men who fled the scene in a white four-door car or a gray SUV.

Police were able to find the car and spoke to three teenagers and 18-year-old Adrian Zambrana. At the time of the stop there was insufficient evidence to make an arrest.

Detectives from the Sarasota Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division took over the case. Through a comprehensive investigation, including video evidence and additional interviews with the victim, investigators confirmed details of the incident. Surveillance footage from October 13, 2024 showed four people, one of whom appeared to be carrying a large tree branch, approaching the location on South Orange Avenue and then attacking the victim. The people in the surveillance footage were the same four people from the early morning traffic stop.

Based on the evidence, all four suspects were arrested and charged in connection with the October 13, 2024 aggravated battery incident.
