Police suspect murder conspiracy in the death of a Minnesota missionary

ANGOLA (Valley News Live) – Police in Lubango allege the murder of Minnesota missionary Beau Shroyer was a contract killing ordered by his wife, Jackie Shroyer.

According to news source VOA Portuguese, the SIC Criminal Investigation Service reports that Beau Shroyer was stabbed to death on October 25th.

Three people, two men and Shroyer's wife, were arrested and a fourth suspect “with active involvement in the crime” was on the run, SIC general spokesman Manuel Halaiwa said. He said they were incarcerated in Lubango prison for skilled manslaughter.

Beau Shroyer, 44, his wife Jackie and their five children came to Angola in 2021 to work as missionaries in collaboration with the SIM organization. Shroyer was a member of the Lakes Area Vinyeard Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

It is suspected that Jackie Shroyer and a family employee could be behind the crime.

“There is strong suspicion here of a possible romantic relationship,” Halaiwa said.

He further explains that one of the suspects was a guard from a private security company that the couple later hired. According to police sources, the missionary's wife had asked the security guard to kill her husband. He hired two men and promised to pay them.

According to an SIC spokesman, Beau Shroyer was murdered in his vehicle with a sharp weapon. Police say the two attackers simulated a robbery by killing the missionary and then leaving his body behind. They then went to meet the security guard, who paid them $9,000.

The SIC continues to investigate and is working with the US Embassy in Angola. The search is also continuing for a fourth suspect.
