South Africa v India: Sanju Samson's second consecutive international T20 century secures a comfortable win in Durban

Sanju Samson hit a 47-ball century as India registered a 61-run win over South Africa in the first T20 international in Durban.

This was the first meeting between the two teams since the T20 World Cup final in June, but unlike the game in Bridgetown, which India won by just seven runs, this was an altogether more one-sided affair.

Samson's second successive T20 hundred proved the difference between the teams as he helped India post a confident score of 202-8.

The wicketkeeper-batter's batting performance of 107 included ten sixes and seven fours, while seamer Gerald Coetzee completed the pick of the South African bowlers with figures of 3-37.

South Africa struggled to find any momentum in their response with several players starting but unable to continue.

Heinrich Klaasen opened the scoring with 25 points but when both he and David Miller fell to Varun Chakravarthy, who took 3-25, the Proteas' cause seemed lost in the 12th game.

This proved true as Varun's teammate Ravi Bishnoi caused disarray for their lower team en route to 3-28 as the hosts were dismissed for 141.

The teams will meet again on Sunday in the second of four T20s at St. George's Park in Gqeberha.
