Amon Ra St Brown explains his “GREENBAY SUCKS” hoodie

Amon-Ra St. Brown went viral last Sunday afternoon, even before he stepped onto the turf at Lambeau Field for the highly anticipated Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers divisional game.

The Lions' Pro Bowl receiver wore a black hoodie to the stadium that read “GREENBAY SUCKS” on the front. The realization of many: Why is Green Bay spelled as one word?

St. Brown had this week at “St. Brown Podcast,” a show he co-hosts with his brother Equanimeous, is an answer to the confusion. He said he and the manufacturer planned it for weeks and the sweatshirt was sent to the Lions' team hotel in Appleton, Wisconsin, because St. Brown couldn't get it in time before the team left Detroit.

“I’ll open it,” St. Brown said. “I see it says 'GREENBAY SUCKS.' I’m being honest, bro – this is 100% honest. I wasn't worried about the spelling of Green Bay, I was just making sure the hoodie fit and everything I see. To the comment “He can't even spell Green Bay correctly,” I replied, “Damn, Green Bay.” is (expletive) misspelled.” Don't get me wrong, it's not my fault. You misspelled Green Bay.

“But when I think about it, I think, ‘This is perfect. It works perfectly.' It doesn't matter how it is written for me. It's “GREENBAY SUCKS” and I actually like that it's misspelled because it makes Green Bay as one (word) even better than two, who cares, it's still green Bay sucks.

Equanimeous St. Brown, a receiver who was originally drafted by Green Bay in 2018 and plays for the New Orleans Saints, said some Packers fans made crazy comments on the podcast's post showing Amon-Ra in a hoodie on game day and hoped that he had torn his cruciate ligament.

“This is crazy,” said Amon-Ra St. Brown.

But he and the Lions got the last laugh when they throttled the Packers 24-14, with St. Brown scoring a mesmerizing fourth touchdown and score on a route not even Tom Brady had seen before. St. Brown has caught 30 consecutive passes thrown his way.

“After that pick-6 (from Kerby Joseph), I felt really good,” St. Brown said. “I’m like, ‘This looks really (expletive) good. This (expletive) will age even better.' And we actually won.

“Like I said, I don’t have a problem with the (Packers) players, it’s really just like the fan base. I wouldn't even say they're annoying. They think this shit (the division) is theirs when really they are, it belongs to anyone now? But it's not like that her. They won it, I understand, they've been dominant for a long time. But now things are a little different. And I like trolling. Trolling is fun.

Then Equanimeous attacked the city of Detroit again.

“Everyone except the owner, but if all the players and coaches could choose to have the Detroit Lions in another city like LA, they would choose it in a heartbeat. Nobody wants to be in Detroit. It just happens to you. “I need a team in Michigan, I’m sorry,” Equanimeous said with a laugh.
