The nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards are in, and music fans are already debating who's in the running for the night's biggest trophies and who's out.

The Recording Academy announced this year's Grammy nominations on Friday, Nov. 8 — cementing a milestone year for Beyoncé with 11 awards, one that took breakout stars like Shaboozey and Chappell Roan to new heights with some of her own looks, and a big moment for Charli brought xcx, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift, among others.

And while some of music's biggest stars are receiving recognition for their latest releases – including some that fans may not have expected – others are heading into the new year without any Grammy nominations.

Here are some of the surprises and snubs arising from the 2025 Grammy nominations.

Surprise: *NSYNC ends 22-year Grammy hiatus

*NSYNC's 2023 reunion, which saw bandmates JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, Justin Timberlake and Joey Fatone team up again for “Better Place” in September 2023, could give the boys another chance at some celebration The Recording Academy will meet again in early 2025. Despite releasing the group's last album over 40 years ago let it beThe Beatles are back in the running for the Grammys thanks to their latest song, “Now and Then,” released in November 2023.

The track – with contributions from members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as late members George Harrison and John Lennon – received an impressive nomination for Record of the Year this week ahead of the 2025 Grammys. The Recording Academy's recognition of “Now and Then” marks the group's 24th Grammy nomination overall. The group, which has won eight Grammys in its career, first took home the trophy for Best New Artist at the 7th annual ceremony in 1965.

Former President Jimmy Carter, a three-time Grammy winner, has now earned his 10th career nomination at the age of 100. The politician was honored by the Recording Academy on Friday for his release in the “Best Audiobook, Narrative and Narrative Recording” category Last Sundays on the Plains: A Centennial Celebration. Tinashe conquered the summer with her viral hit “Nasty,” but the momentum apparently wasn't enough to make it to the Grammys, as the hit single doesn't appear anywhere on the nominations list. Despite what fans now call an oversight by the Recording Academy, “Nasty” still gave the pop star her first appearance at the Academy billboard Hot 100 in almost eight years.

Snub: No love for “Megan”

Megan Thee Stallion's self-titled third studio album was also nowhere to be seen on Friday's list of Grammy nominees — despite the Houston titan scoring her first-ever solo Hot 100 No. 1 hit with “Hiss” and the success of subsequent singles such as “Mamushi”.

Meg has already won Grammys in 2021 and 2022 – her first win being her record win of the year for her “Savage” remix with Beyoncé. The Best Rap Album 2025 category includes names like Eminem, Future and Metro Boomin and Doechii – the first woman to be nominated in the category in the 2020s.

Snub: Benson Boone gets a nod, but “Beautiful Things” doesn't

While breakout star Benson Boone secured his spot in the Best New Artist of 2025 category alongside names like Doechii, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, his breakout hit “Beautiful Things” wasn't considered at all at the Grammys. The song previously reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

His newcomer colleague Teddy Swims was also only nominated for best new artist, although his hit “Lose Control” reached number 1 in the charts in the spring.

Snub: Hozier's chart-topper “Too Sweet”

Hozier will perform at the GRAMMY Museum on October 30, 2024.

Hozier's hit “Too Sweet” was also nowhere to be found on the list of 2025 Grammy nominations. The song, which also reached the top of the Hot 100, marked the singer's first No. 1 of her career and her first Top 5 entry since the breakthrough success of 2013's “Take Me to Church,” the latter of which was Hozier's only one Career Grammy nomination in the Song of the Year category at the 57th Annual Awards.

Snub: Megan Moroney's debut album
