According to Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys have a Trey Lance package

The Dallas Cowboys play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon and are the absolute underdogs in their home game. Even with quarterback Dak Prescott this season, the Cowboys have been a largely ineffective offense. Cooper Rush is slated to start for him this week and for the foreseeable future, although many people believe moving on with Trey Lance is the better option overall.

It appears the Cowboys plan to use Trey Lance at some point in the game or upcoming games. But how do we know this? Jerry Jones told us!

Jerry Jones made his usual Friday appearance on 105.3 The Fan and was asked about the state of the team's quarterback position. He specifically noted that there is a “window” for Lance and that there are “packages” the team can provide.

We've only seen Lance play for the Cowboys in preseason, and while the results in the air weren't great to say the least, he showed some ability as a runner.

Could we imagine the Cowboys bringing Lance into the game for a moment or two and having him execute something like a quarterback draw or RPO? It sounds like that is a possibility. But something like this generally seems extremely obvious, let alone brought to the attention of the world by Jerry, so it comes with some risk and some reward.

Some Cowboys fans have generally suggested that Dallas should use Lance similarly to how the New Orleans Saints have used Taysom Hill in the past. Whatever we see from Lance, it seems like it could happen as soon as Sunday.

By the way, Jerry Jones also spoke about Dak Prescott's condition and the topic of surgery related to his hamstring injury. He noted that part of the delay is Prescott wanting to try to play things out.

It was reported on Wednesday that Prescott's hamstring is partially torn and that it could actually be a season-ending surgery. Whether or not you believe Prescott is qualified to be a starter for this team, there are certainly many different opinions. Putting him at risk in the name of being eliminated from the playoffs is a fool's errand anyway. Nobody ever likes to admit that a season is over, lost or anything like that, but the Cowboys have now made a really big financial investment in Prescott. Risking that for nothing makes little sense.
