Man charged in road rage shooting in Peoria

A man accused of shooting at another vehicle in Peoria has been arrested.

The incident occurred at 8 a.m. on November 7 near 83rd Avenue and Olive Avenue.

Peoria According to police, one person reported that while they were driving, another driver pulled up next to them and started screaming.

“The suspect raised a handgun, pointed it at the caller and fired a round.” police said.

The shot struck the rear passenger door of the victim's vehicle. The victim was not injured.

After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene.

Investigators say they were able to identify the suspect's vehicle, which led to the arrest of the suspect, who was identified as 49-year-old Rey Villegas of Phoenix.

Villegas was taken to prison and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and drive-by shooting.
