Trussville man charged with murder

From Tribune staff reporting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A Trussville man has been charged in the shooting death of Amauria Caffey, according to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald.

Malik Farris, 21, was charged with murder, first-degree theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief.

Caffey, 20, was shot and killed on Monday, November 4, in the 1600 block of 5th Street North in Birmingham.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting resulted from an altercation that same day involving a family member of the victim and another person.

The theft and criminal mischief charges reportedly stem from the suspect's actions following the shooting at the victim's property.

Farris turned himself into police custody and is being held without bail in the Jefferson County Jail.
