A TV series adaptation is in the works for Prime Video

One of the most surprising things to happen in the entertainment industry in recent years has been the rapid rise in the quality of video game adaptations. Shows and movies based on games used to be punchlines. They are now one of the hottest properties in Hollywood. The streaming services have also had success with video game TV shows, and Prime Video plans to continue that trend with a new original series based on them Mass effect games.

Accordingly diversityAmazon MGM Studios hired Daniel Casey (F9: The Fast Saga) to write and executive produce this Mass effect Series. Additional executive producers include Karim Zreik of Cedar Tree Productions, Michael Gamble of BioWare and Ari Arad.

Word from a Mass effect Amazon's adaptation began spreading in 2021, but as diversity Notes: The trail had gone cold until this week's developments.

The report didn't provide any plot details, so we don't know if it's a direct adaptation or just inspiration from the games. The original Mass effect The trilogy follows Commander Shepard and a group of soldiers in the 22nd century as they attempt to save humanity from aliens called Reapers. In the universe of the games, humans have discovered faster-than-light travel and made contact with a variety of extraterrestrial civilizations.

The first three games in the series were released between 2007 and 2012 and received widespread acclaim from developer BioWare. After a short break Mass Effect: Andromeda has revived the series with a standalone story set centuries in the future. The response wasn't nearly as positive and the franchise has been dormant ever since.

After the success of Stand out Earlier this year, it was no surprise that Amazon wanted to push its video game shows further. Prime Video recently premiered Yakuza: Like a dragonwhich is also based on a long-running Japanese game series.
