Mike Elko addresses Garrett Nussmeier's viral comments about Kyle Field before the match

LSU travels to Texas A&M this weekend in a top-tier SEC matchup at Kyle Field. A stadium where the Tigers' quarterback plays Garrett Nussmeier previously admitted was loud, but didn't say it wasn't Death Valley in the Bayou.

Nussmeier's comments resurfaced ahead of LSU's game in College Station on Saturday. With Aggies head coach Mike Elko recently asked about the reaction to Nussmeier's “challenge” and what makes Kyle Field and the 12th Man so special.

“I will save the first part of this question for Saturday night around 10 p.m.,” Elko said.

“The second part of that question is what makes it so special, and I joked about that because I couldn't believe there was talk in the spring about the 12th man showing up in the spring game. And I brought it up in the spring, there are a lot of things I'm worried about. The one thing I never worry about is where the 12th man is going to be when Texas A&M plays football on Saturday,” Elko said. “They’ll be in Kyle, they’ll be loud and proud and they’ll give us an incredible home-court advantage.”

Nussmeier's initial comments came when he was asked about EA Sports' ranking of the hardest spots to play ahead of the highly anticipated release of the video game College Football 25. LSU's home defense at Tiger Stadium ranked third on the list while Kyle Field took the top spot.

However, ahead of this weekend's game, he praised the 12th man a little more.

“Of course we are aware that it is a difficult environment. It's a tough place to play. It will be loud, it will be exciting,” said Nussmeier. “For us, we’re playing a football game this Saturday. Yes, it will be loud. This will be the environment… We focus on ourselves. We are focused on doing our best and attacking our opponent.”

There's no question that both LSU and Texas A&M's boast two of the most hostile environments in the entire college football landscape, and Kyle Field will be rocking the “Home of the 12th Man” on Saturday night. But Elko talked about how the support of the Aggies' fan base really makes the atmosphere unique.

“It means everything to us. That means we have support and we constantly talk to the players about it. “Nowadays, you're faced with so much negativity when things aren't going right, like on social media, on message boards, on blogs, all of those things,” Elko explained. “And the kids need to understand that your fan base is always there for you. Like they don't turn their backs on you. It's not like they love you when you win. If you don't do it, they won't do it. You are very blessed to be in a place where your fan base shows up and supports you all the time.”

The Aggies will definitely be there this weekend when they host LSU in a big matchup starting at 7:30 p.m. ET in a game that will air on ABC and stream on Fubo.
