Women are accused of stealing thousands from elderly people in Hendersonville

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Two 22-year-old women are accused of stealing thousands from an elderly resident in Hendersonville, according to Hendersonville police.

Police said Thursday that officers responded to a home burglary alarm and discovered the back door of the home was broken.

The victim reported that $7,000 was stolen from a safe inside. Police said surveillance video captured a vehicle near the home at the time of the alleged theft.

The vehicle was found passing a license plate reader in the area before it was seen on surveillance video. Police determined the vehicle belonged to 22-year-old America Pena, who was known to HPD as the caregiver of an elderly resident who had recently moved out of the home.

According to HPD, Pena allegedly confessed to her role in the burglary as well as a previous theft from the elderly resident while caring for her. A second suspect, 22-year-old Annie Saysombath, was also arrested and is said to have confessed to her involvement.

“Both individuals were charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property over $1,000 and vandalism. Pena was also charged with second count of theft of property over $1,000 for the previous incident,” HPD stated.
