Suspect arrested for burglary of gun store; Linked to the nationwide crime spree

Fairfax County, VA – Following the September burglary of a gun store in Springfield, detectives from our Criminal Investigation Division arrested seven suspects and uncovered their involvement in other related crimes.

On September 18, at approximately 2:38 a.m., officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred at 7200 Fullerton Road at Dominion Defense in Springfield. Security footage showed four suspects forcing their way into the store through the front door. The suspects stole 14 firearms before leaving the store and fleeing the area in a white Kia Soul.

FCPD detectives worked with the ATF and other local law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest three suspects. The suspects and associated charges are listed below:

Investigators determined that a number of violent crimes throughout Fairfax County involved either the same group of suspects or associates known to the group. The cases involved are listed below in chronological order.

  • On September 7th at 7:22 p.m., Shopping Center Units responded to a robbery in the 6500 block of Springfield Mall in Springfield. The victims reported that a suspect brandished a firearm and stole their phones. Officers located the juvenile suspects involved nearby and took them into custody.
  • When detectives investigated the burglary at Dominion Defense on Sept. 18, they discovered that the Kia Soul used in the burglary had been stolen from the 7600 block of Oakridge Woods Court in Springfield prior to the incident.
  • On September 18th at approximately 10:25 p.m., officers responded to the 9500 block of Hagel Circle in Lorton for a 911 call. Officers found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Several 9mm shell casings were found and collected as evidence.
  • At approximately 12:02 a.m. on September 19, officers responded to the 7700 block of Matisse Way in Springfield where a shooting occurred at an occupied residence. Officials determined that two houses were hit. Nobody was hurt. Several 9mm shell casings were found and collected as evidence.
  • On September 20th at 4:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Beacontree Lane in Reston for a report of a kidnapping. School administrators contacted officials about an incident that occurred off school property. A student reported that he saw another student being attacked with a firearm on video. Officers found the victim near his home with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim said she was attacked and robbed by several suspects. The weapons seen in the video were traced back to Dominion Defense.
  • At 1:52 a.m. on Sept. 21, officers responded to the 7800 block of Lambkin Court in Lorton for a call about a “shooting at an occupied dwelling.” The victims reported that someone shot into their home while they were still inside. Both victims remained uninjured. Several 9mm shell casings were found and collected as evidence.
  • On September 22nd at 11:32 a.m., officers responded to the 7700 block of Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley for a robbery. The victim reported that he was robbed after meeting a suspect to purchase clothing. The victim reported that an AR-style gun was brandished and he was robbed. Officers located the vehicle involved a short distance away and arrested two suspects. The rifle recovered was linked to the break-in at Dominion Defense.

West Springfield Police District – Investigators from our Criminal Investigation Division and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are asking for the community's assistance following a late-night break-in at a gun store in Springfield.

At approximately 2:38 a.m. on September 18, officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred at 7200 Fullerton Road at Dominion Defense in Springfield. Security footage showed four masked people forcing their way into the store through the front door. The suspects stole 14 firearms before leaving the store and fleeing the area in a white Kia Soul.
