Man was arrested after stealing several items, including approximately 20 fishing rods

WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said a man has been arrested in connection with a property crime investigation.

The sheriff's office said officers were called to an address on West Oak Highway near Miller Farm Road on Wednesday, Nov. 8, for reports of a burglary. Upon investigation, they discovered a zero-turn lawn mower, approximately 20 fishing poles, a washer and dryer stolen from the home's carport.

The investigation has been turned over to a property crime investigator with the Criminal Investigation Department.

During the investigation it was determined that 45-year-old John Justin Ward had committed the crime that night.

Ward was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary and grand larceny at approximately 6:14 p.m. and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center.
