Grand Junction Five Guys employee speaks out about apparent viral “racial slur” video.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – Five Guys is known for its burgers and fries, but now it's in the spotlight for a different reason.

“They came in. They insulted us and got us fired,” said Aiden Renova, a former Five Guys employee.

He was present at an incident captured on video in which a man can be seen shouting racial slurs at Five Guys employees.

Renova is seen asking the man to leave.

According to Renova, the man came into the restaurant on election night to pick up an order. He then asked one of the employees who he was voting for.

“It’s kind of weird to bring it up to someone [who’s] Make your fries,” Renova said.

The staffer responded and said they voted for Kamala Harris. The man then quietly called the employee a racial slur.

That's when the employee pulled out his phone to record it.

“I go up to them and ask the guy, 'Hey, hey man, what are you doing?' Why are you saying slurs?'” Renova said.

The man left Five Guys after the shouting match ended.

According to Renova, the employee who recorded the video was fired after the incident.

Renova said he decided to resign after firing the employee because he disagreed with the company's decision.

Jeff Parker, owner of Grand Junction Five Guys, sent the following statement:

“We are very concerned about this incident and everything that followed. We research offline to understand the full story. We are not at liberty to discuss personnel matters at this time. We do not tolerate racism in our operations and work with our employees to ensure that the safety of employees and customers is always our top priority. We expect our employees and customers to treat each other with respect.”

The identity of the man in the video has not been confirmed.
