20-year-old arrested after stealing golf cart from church in Oconee Co.

WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said a man was arrested after a limo-style golf cart was stolen from a church in October following an investigation.

According to the sheriff's office, they were notified of the theft on Sunday, October 6th.

Evidence obtained by officers indicated that a woman and a man entered Calvary Church on Saturday, October 5 and drove the cart from the property onto Highway 123.

Officials said the cart was recovered Monday, Oct. 7, abandoned in a field on E. Street near E. Londsdale Street on Utica Mill Hill near Seneca. The cart was returned to the church.

Officers later identified the suspects as a 16-year-old girl and 20-year-old Michael Ian LeClear.

LeClear was arrested Oct. 25 for grand larceny. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and released on a $10,000 recognizance bond on Wednesday, November 6th.
