1 dead and 3 wounded after gunmen opened fire at Brazil's largest international airport

SAO PAULO — Brazilian police said unidentified gunmen opened fire in a black car at Sao Paulo's international airport in Guarulhos on Friday afternoon, killing one person and wounding three others.

Police identified the fatal victim as Antônio Vinícius Lopes Gritzbach, who had previously received death threats from the capital's First Command, a powerful international criminal group.

Gritzbach, who had cryptocurrency businesses, had recently agreed to a plea deal with local prosecutors to talk about his ties to the criminal group, police said.

Police have not yet determined the number of gunmen involved in the attack.

Two people can be seen on social media who were apparently shot at the airport. One victim lies on the floor in Terminal 2, which is mainly used for domestic flights, while the other is stranded on an access road outside the terminal.
