Veteran actor Tony Todd, best known for his iconic role in Candyman, has died at the age of 69, according to Deadline and Variety.

The prolific actor, whose film and television career spanned more than four decades, died on November 6 at his home in Los Angeles. Todd's representatives confirmed his death but did not reveal a cause of death, Deadline reported.

Todd was born on December 4, 1954 in Washington, D.C. and developed his talents at the Eugene O'Neill National Actors Theater Institute and Trinity Rep Conservatory.

His early career included a notable role as Sergeant Warren in Oliver Stones Train (1986), and he gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the hook-wielding title character in Candyman (1992), a role he reprized in the 2021 sequel directed by Nia DaCosta.
