Todd Golden is accused of sexual harassment in a Title IX complaint

Florida men's basketball coach Todd Golden has been charged with sexual harassment and stalking of women, according to a report in the Gainesville Sun and other media outlets.

A Title IX complaint regarding Golden's conduct was filed on September 27. That complaint accused him of conduct that may violate the school's equal opportunity policy. The Gainesville Sun, part of the USA TODAY Network, obtained a copy of the complaint.

The Alligator, Florida's student publication, first reported the complaint in an article published Friday.

Golden, 39, is in his third season in Florida after spending the last three years in San Francisco.

According to the Title IX complaint, Golden is accused of sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking that occurred over the course of a year. The sexual harassment allegations included “unwanted sexual advances on Instagram, requests for sexual favors, sending photos and videos of his genitals while traveling for UF, and various stalking opportunities.”

In response to questions about the Title IX complaint, university spokeswoman Cynthia Roldan Hernandez released a statement to the Gainesville Sun: “To comply with federal law, the university cannot comment on or confirm Title IX inquiries, complaints or investigations.”

The Alligator said he spoke with two women, both former students, who confirmed the details in the Title IX complaint. The complaint was sent anonymously to the Gainesville Sun and other local media outlets.

Under Golden, the Gators had a 24-12 record last season when they were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Florida, which is off to a 2-0 start this season, is scheduled to play Grambling State on Monday.
