Seattle maniac arrested for randomly stabbing nine people in 38 hours:

A maniac has been arrested in Seattle, Washington for stabbing nine people in a series of random attacks over a two-day period, according to police.

According to the Seattle Police Department, the unnamed suspect stabbed the victims within 38 hours in a roughly four-block area in the Chinatown-International District.

The random knife attacks sent four of the victims to Harborview Medical Center.

All of those patients arrived at the hospital in critical condition — and two of them remained in critical condition as of Friday evening, according to the Associated Press. The condition of another victim was listed as “satisfactory” and another as “severe” on Friday.

One of those victims, a 53-year-old man, was stabbed in the neck and bled profusely before he was treated, according to police.

According to SPD Blotter, as part of their investigation, police officers followed a trail of blood left by the victim.

According to Seattle police, the attacker stabbed five people on Friday and is suspected of being involved in four other stabbings that occurred in the same neighborhood on Thursday.

Deputy Police Chief Eric Barden cited similar suspect descriptions and crime profiles as a reason to believe the same man was responsible for the attacks on both days, according to the AP.

“This incident appears to have involved an individual committing random attacks over a 38-hour period,” Barden said at the scene Friday, according to the outlet.

The SPD stated that they had found the suspect based on the descriptions of witnesses. He was found nearby with a gun, the AP reported.

According to police, a 53-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man and a 37-year-old man were stabbed multiple times in the Chinatown neighborhood on Thursday.

“The stabbings in Little Saigon and the Chinatown-International District are horrific and appalling and should not happen anywhere in our city,” Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell said in a statement.

“Every person deserves to feel and be safe, and I remain committed to using every means available to improve the safety of Little Saigon and the historic Chinatown-International District for all residents, workers and visitors.” , wrote the mayor.

A tenth stabbing on Thursday evening could also be part of the madman's killing spree. According to police, an attacker tried to steal a phone from a 60-year-old man who was sitting in his car. The attacker swung the knife at the victim's chest – but he was able to block it with his hand.
