Officers shoot armed man while responding to a domestic incident

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – St. Petersburg police said a man is in critical condition in the hospital after officers shot him while attempting an arrest following a domestic incident.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. in a house at number 47Th Avenue North in Lealman. St. Pete police and Pinellas sheriff's deputies responded to the incident.

Three police officers shot him.

“The teenage girl advised him that the male suspect was still in the house, had armed himself with a firearm that he kept in the house, and pointed the gun at the teenage girl and said something to the effect of “Bist “You ready to have some? “Fun?” Assistant Chief David Gerardo said during a news conference early Saturday.

The Pinellas County Investigative Use of Deadly Force Task Force is investigating the shooting.

Meanwhile, the officers who shot the man are on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
