Spartanburg man arrested on multiple charges of sexual offenses involving a minor

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office arrested a man in September on multiple charges related to sexual conduct with a minor.

Investigators report assisting the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina by issuing arrest warrants against a Spartanburg resident for indecent liberties with a minor.

As part of this investigation, it was also discovered that 62-year-old Ian Mitchell Farnsworth had committed sexual offenses with another victim in Spartanburg County, which led to him also being charged on September 25 with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor said the investigators.

According to deputies, Farnsworth was placed on house arrest on Oct. 22, which he violated the next day.

Investigators report that another victim at the Children's Advocacy Center said she suffered ongoing sexual abuse at the hands of Farnsworth over the past year.

Farnsworth was additionally charged Nov. 7 with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Farnsworth is being held without bail at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
