Three people, including two minors, have been charged in connection with an October shooting in Troy.

According to a news release, the first shooting incident occurred just before 6 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the area of 6th Avenue and Glen Avenue. Troy police said several callers heard gunshots. Upon arrival, patrol officers said they interviewed witnesses and began identifying possible evidence.

Authorities determined that the suspects fired shots at a passing vehicle, but no one was injured in the incident.

As the investigation continued, the Troy Police Department Emergency Response Team reportedly executed a court-ordered search warrant on October 11 at a residence on 6th Avenue near 122nd Street.

“Various units of the Troy Police Department, along with our law enforcement partners at the Rensselaer County Probation Department, have combined their efforts to investigate this violent act that could have injured a member of our community,” Assistant Police Chief Steven Barker said in a news release. “Thanks to the determined work of the personnel involved, all three suspects allegedly involved in this dangerous crime were apprehended without injury to any member of the community or law enforcement.”

In connection with this investigation, authorities said 20-year-old Zamarion E. Jordan was arrested on Oct. 9 on 5th Avenue near 101st Street. He was arraigned in Troy Municipal Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail. Jordan was charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 31, according to court records.

Police said they also arrested a 16-year-old male on Oct. 11 in Lansingburgh and a 17-year-old male on Oct. 22 at the Rensselaer County Probation Department. Because they are minors, the authorities are not publishing their names. They were referred to juvenile court and both were charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

“Two of the suspects involved are juveniles, underscoring the work still needed to reduce the number of youth involved in gun violence nationwide. Across Troy, we have paired awareness and youth programs from various organizations to hopefully redirect those who might otherwise become involved in dangerous groups,” Barker said. “This work continues and involves staff from across the city government. The combined efforts of the mayor, administration and Troy Police Department remain strong, and we are all committed to creating a safer and cleaner Troy.”
