Bail set at $2 million for Seattle man accused of stabbing five people

The man suspected of carrying out a stabbing attack in Seattle's Chinatown-International neighborhood made his first court appearance today.

On Saturday, the court was ordered to determine probable cause on five counts of first-degree assault as part of the Seattle Police Department's ongoing investigation.

While the suspect's defense requested a lower bond, a King County judge agreed to the prosecutor's request for $2,000,000.

When speaking in court about the amount of bail, the public prosecutor's office referred to the right of criminal police employees to feel safe and protected.

The man accused of the crimes has not yet been formally charged. Police investigators are expected to file a case referral in this regard on Thursday, November 14th.

There is currently no record of the incidents being part of a hate crime. However, that could change as investigators continue to gather evidence.
