Paul Mescal in Advanced Talks with Star in Ridley Scott's “The Dog Stars”

The Dog Stars will be Ridley Scott's next film, working with Steve Asbell and the team at 20th Century Studios. According to an insider familiar with the project, Gladiator 2 headliner Paul Mescal is currently in advanced negotiations to star in the project.

The film is based on the thriller “Apocalyptic” by Peter Heller, with Mark L. Smith writing the screenplay adaptation. Smith, Cliff Roberts and Scott Free produce.

The official logline for “The Dog Stars” is as follows: “In a near future where an unnamed pandemic has decimated American society, a civilian pilot lives a lonely life on an abandoned air base with his dog and a tough ex-Marine Colorado. The two men couldn't be more different, but they rely on each other to fend off wandering intruders. When a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice deep within the pilot ignites hope that there is a better life outside of their tightly controlled orbit. He risks everything, flies past the point of no return, and follows his trail with intermittent static.”

The duo's next release is Gladiator II, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 22nd from Paramount Pictures, including in IMAX and large formats.
