Heavy traffic is expected around UH Manoa on Saturday

The University of Hawaii at Manoa is warning that there will be congestion on campus Saturday when the UH football team hosts UNLV at the Clarence TC Ching Athletics Complex, according to a news release. The seating capacity of the complex is over 15,000.

Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. It could be UH's third sellout this season, following UCLA on Aug. 31 and Boise State on Oct. 12.

Traffic is expected to increase early afternoon in both directions along the H-1 Freeway, particularly near the University Avenue exits and on surrounding neighborhood streets, including University Avenue, Dole Street and Waialae Avenue.

UH personnel and special officers from the Honolulu Police Department will be on surrounding streets directing traffic. According to the press release, the university is also using parking technology to expedite entry and exit to the event and will coordinate with the city to adjust traffic lights to assist with traffic flow.

To park, a pre-purchased parking permit (mobile or printed) is required for the Lower Campus parking spaces. Prices for these tickets start at $25. The parking gates open at 12:00 p.m

On game day, parking permits for the Upper Campus parking lots can be purchased for $15 (payment by credit card or mobile wallet; no cash). Enter East-West Road at Dole Street or Maile Way at University Avenue.

Entry is free (a valid football match ticket is required to enter the beer garden).
