Rain is forecast for Saturday's LSU-Alabama game | News

The chance of rain is never present at Tiger Stadium, but it could rain in Baton Rouge on Saturday for the LSU-Alabama game, the National Weather Service said.

The National Weather Service said a cold front combined with moisture moving north from Hurricane Rafael is expected to bring a 50% chance of rain to the area Saturday night.

The LSU Tigers take the field to face the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

The rainy weather will likely continue through Sunday, said Kevin Gilmore, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Slidell.

The chance of rain starts at 20% Friday, he said.

The cold front is forecast to “weaken to a minimum” over the weekend, so showers and thunderstorms will continue to be forecast, Gilmore said.

“Saturday night will be difficult,” he said. “The rain could be widespread and heavy. I would definitely say that people should be on their guard.”

Flash flooding and lightning are also possible risks this weekend, Gilmore said.

LSU senior associate athletic director Daniel Gaston said the Tigers will follow NCAA and SEC weather-related rules that call for a 30-minute delay in play if there is lightning within 8 miles of the stadium.

“We will monitor the weather before kick-off and during the game,” Gaston said.

There will be a slight chance of rain and mostly sunny skies after noon on Monday on Veterans Day, said Gilmore of the National Weather Service.
