Major drug raid in Aroostook County: Dominican nationals among four arrested after $200,000 worth of fentanyl and meth were seized

Four people were arrested on drug trafficking charges after authorities found more than $200,000 worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine at a home in Aroostook County on Tuesday, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said.

The search and subsequent arrests were the result of a months-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking at the home at 1057 Van Buren Road in Caswell.

Caswell is a small town north of Caribou, located on Aroostook County's border with New Brunswick, Canada.

According to MDEA, agents found over two pounds of fentanyl, over one pound of methamphetamine and over $19,000 in cash from suspected drug proceeds during their search of the Van Buren Road home.

MDEA estimated the total street value of the seized drugs to be over $200,000.

Arrested were 47-year-old Andrew McHatten of Caswell, 27-year-old Whilo Recio of Mattapan, Massachusetts, 28-year-old Ramon Recio of Boston, Massachusetts, and 35-year-old Diomedes Del Rosario Cotreras, a citizen of the Dominican Republic.

The four suspects were each charged with trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine and were taken to the Aroostook County Jail, where their bond was set at $15,000 cash each.
