Man accused of stealing from mountain fire victims arrested on looting charges – NBC Los Angeles

A man was arrested for allegedly stealing an electric bicycle from a Mountain Fire evacuee, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

The victim visited his home in Camarillo on Friday to assess the damage after being ordered to evacuate due to the mountain fire.

After a search of his property, the victim's bicycle disappeared from his driveway. He then confronted a team of landscapers working nearby.

One of the landscaping crew members admitted taking the bike and returned it to the owner after unloading it from an enclosed trailer.

On Saturday, members of the sheriff's Tactical Response Team were notified of the incident by the victim and were able to identify the suspect.

Ramon Avila Pacheco, 37, was found near Camarillo and arrested on suspicion of looting.
