Odisha Police's arrest post with a hilarious emoji twist goes viral | Latest News India

A social media post from Berhampur Police in Odisha went viral after it showed the faces of four arrested suspects covered in different emojis instead of the usual blurry or pixelated effect. The post published on Friday announcing their arrest took a humorous turn as police used “hilarious” emojis to obscure the defendants' faces.

The official of humor added to the contribution.

While the caption “Gopalpur police team arrested four people for assaulting father and son” was clear, the playful emoji variant made the announcement special and caused a stir among social media users.

Several users praised the Berhampur police post for mixing humor while announcing the arrest.

One user commented: “Incredible guys with such emotional faces would attack someone.” Another user was torn between being discouraged by the crime and laughing at the police's funny approach.

A third user jokingly suggested that in the event of an arrest, police should use the emoji, which shows a sweaty face with a flushed expression and is usually used to express stress or difficult situations.

This wasn't the first time they shared such a post.

The Berhampur Police social media account is known for combining serious law enforcement news with humor. For example, in October they shared an update about a significant crackdown on gambling. While the caption described the raids that took place at several police stations, it was the images of the arrested people, their faces obscured by emojis, that really grabbed attention.

“Campaign against gambling. For the last 10 days, Berhampur police have been conducting continuous anti-gambling raids in all areas of the police station,” wrote SP Berhampur X Handle.

In another case in October, Berhampur police arrested a person for cheating and again shared a post in which the accused's face was hidden behind an emoji. “Today (October 25, 2024), Sadar police station arrested a person for cheating,” Berhampur police wrote on X.

With these playful posts, the Berhampur Police have managed to grab attention and inject a refreshing sense of humor into the otherwise serious world of crime.
