Sources – Missouri’s Brady Cook is unlikely to play against Oklahoma

No. 24 Missouri is expected to be without starting quarterback Brady Cook on Saturday night against visiting Oklahoma, sources told ESPN on Friday.

Cook is dealing with both an ankle and wrist injury, having missed Missouri's last two games due to injury.

Cook's missed game would mark the end of a streak of 35 consecutive starts that includes every game of the 2024, 2023 and 2022 seasons.

Veteran reserve Drew Pyne will replace Cook. He is 8-3 in his career as a starter, which includes his time at both Notre Dame and Arizona State.

Pyne struggled in Missouri's final game in place of Cook at Alabama, throwing three interceptions while completing 6 of 12 passes for 42 yards. In place of Cook, Pyne completed 10 of 21 passes for 78 yards against Auburn.

Cook has thrown for 1,575 yards and seven touchdowns this year. He has thrown for 8,048 yards and 45 touchdowns in his career.

He played valiantly in a comeback win against Auburn, returned from the hospital and led a second-half comeback.

The news of Cook's absence will be somewhat tempered by the return of Nate Noel, who is in the starting lineup, sources said. He missed the Alabama game after suffering a foot injury. Noel ran for 503 yards this season and is averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

247Sports.com initially reported that Cook would sit out Saturday's game.
