Leesville couple charged with first-degree murder

LEESVILLE, La. (KPLC) – A Leesville couple is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 4-year-old girl.

Leesville Police Department (LPD) investigators determined that both the 4-year-old and her 2-year-old brother suffered injuries believed to be the result of physical abuse.

The child's biological father, Logan Miller, 24, and his live-in girlfriend, Terrie Gray, 48, both of Leesville, were arrested Nov. 6 on drug charges.

Now both are charged with first-degree murder and two counts of child abuse.

The child's biological father, Logan Miller, 24, of Leesville, and his live-in girlfriend, Terrie Gray, 48, also of Leesville, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder and two counts of cruelty to a juvenile.

On Wednesday, November 6, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Leesville Police Department (LPD) officers responded to a call for an unresponsive child found at a local residence.

The child was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. However, according to police, it succumbed to its injuries on Thursday morning.

The four-year-old's cause of death was “cardiopulmonary arrest, intracranial bilateral hemorrhage and non-accidental child abuse injuries,” according to Whitney LaFrance, public information officer for the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

The DCFS report said the child was hospitalized with “a bilateral brain hemorrhage, a broken humerus, and a fracture of the left clavicle.” In addition, she has bruises on many parts of her body and burns on her face, chin and neck.”

“It is a very disturbing and certainly horrific case of abuse of this child and possibly his younger sibling as well,” said Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft.

LPD is currently working with the Sheriff's Office, Coroner's Office and Vernon Parish District Attorney, as well as DCFS, to investigate this case.
