Bill Burr's SNL monologue addresses Donald Trump's election victory

Bill Burr didn't hold back in his “Saturday Night Live” monologue on the show's first episode following Donald Trump's election victory.

The Canton comedian, who previously hosted the show in 2020, returned to New York's Studio 8H on Saturday night, with singer-songwriter Mk.gee serving as the evening's musical guest. Burr responded to Tuesday's election results in his monologue, saying, “Okay, ladies, you're 0-2 against this guy.”

“But you learn more from defeats than from victories, so let’s get to the game tape: Ladies, enough with the pantsuit,” Burr said.

After criticizing the clothing choice and offering some rough alternatives, Burr went on to admit that he was “so excited that this stupid choice is finally over.”

“Like four years ago everyone knew who they were voting for and then they just dragged you through a year and a half of this stuff,” Burr said. “Who sat there and watched the debate as if it had not yet been decided? Two of the most opposite people ever.”

“It's like, 'Okay, let's see what the orange fanatic has to say,'” he added. “How about the real estate agent who talks through her nose… That's so difficult. They overlap. I just can’t decide.”

Burr also revealed that after the July assassination, he was surprised that “Trump didn't win this thing like he did four months ago.”

“When I was a kid, if you ran for president and got shot and didn't die, that was the end of the election,” Burr explained. “You couldn’t say anything. Right? Everyone would say, 'This guy is the man.' He's the king.'”

Burr joked that the reason Trump survived was because of the “jerky movements he makes.”

“You just can’t pin the guy down, he’s a lunatic,” Burr said. “He literally got shot and immediately jumped back and started screaming, unarmed, in the direction the bullets were coming from. This is not a sensible person.”

Before ending his monologue, Burr shared his favorite moment from the 2024 campaign: Trump serving fries at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania last month.

“Wasn’t that amazing? That was the only time I ever really saw that guy happy,” Burr said. “When he beamed. When he got behind the bar, it was like he was backstage at Springsteen or something.”

Burr hasn't shied away from talking about Trump in the past. During a lengthy chat on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last year, the Canton comedian called the former and now future president a “narcissist” but also predicted a Trump comeback despite his countless accusations.

“He’s coming back, Jimmy,” Burr told Kimmel at the time. “It’ll be great for comedy.”

In a November 2023 interview on “The Rich Eisen Show,” the “Old Dads” star defended his wife Nia Renée Hill after she outsmarted Trump at UFC 295 last year in a moment caught on camera that went viral.

“The guy walked into the arena, everyone cheered, she gave him the finger, no one got arrested,” Burr Eisen explained. “That’s why this country is great. Everyone has commented. Can we all be adults?”

“I don’t know about you, but I came there to take part in the fighting,” he added. “I didn’t know I was going to the Republican National Convention.”
