Marion County woman arrested after police find meth in diaper bag

BAXTER, W.Va (WDTV) – A Marion County woman was arrested on child neglect charges Wednesday after police found methamphetamine in a diaper bag.

According to West Virginia State Police, 36-year-old Alyssa Maze of Baxter admitted to using methamphetamine in the presence of a 1-year-old child before officers arrived.

Police, along with CPS, responded to a home on Underwood Street in Baxter after receiving a complaint and found Maze exiting an RV in front of the residence.

A man with an active arrest warrant was found in the RV, along with drug paraphernalia and two containers of meth in a diaper bag that Maze confirmed was hers.

According to court documents, Maze told police that she “regularly uses meth twice a month on average.”

Police said Maze posed a significant danger to her 1-year-old child, who was present while she used meth in the apartment.

Maze is charged with child neglect resulting in risk of injury and is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jail.
