Sedalia baby dead in multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 29

A Sedalia child died Wednesday after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 in Platte County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's online accident report states that the accident occurred on southbound I-29 at 3 p.m.

The report states that a 2019 Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck driven by Samani Mahjouri, 57, of Lincoln, Nebraska, skidded.

The truck struck the rear of the 2002 Toyota Corolla driven by Patsy Withrow, 78, of Savannah, Missouri.

The Toyota crashed into the rear of a 2022 Freightliner driven by Sultan Singh, 31, of Manitoba, Canada.

The Toyota then entered the tree line on the right side of the road.

The Peterbilt then struck the rear of the Freightliner, which then struck the rear of a 2022 Ford F350 driven by Joseph Waxmonski, 47, of Linwood, Kansas.

A young boy in Withrow's car was pronounced dead at Children's Mercy Hospital.

Withrow was seriously injured. A passenger in her car, Terri Swartz, 44, of St. Joseph, Missouri, suffered minor injuries.

Waxmonski and Mahjouri had minor injuries.
