Politicians and cricket fraternities congratulate Green Shirts on victory against Australia – Pakistan

Pakistan defeated Australia with an eight-wicket win to secure their first ODI series win in Australia after 22 years.

The cricket fraternity and politicians on Sunday congratulated the Pakistan men's team for their victory over Australia.

Pakistan defeated Australia with an eight-wicket win on Sunday to secure their first victory in the men's One-Day International (ODI) series in Australia in 22 years.

After dismissing the woeful world champions with a miserable 140 at Perth Stadium, Mohammad Rizwan's team achieved their target with ease in the 27th over.

The impressive performance, supported by quality bowling from Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, ensured Australia's first ODI series win since 2002.

The cricket board reported the win in a post on X.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the team and said, “By defeating a strong team like Australia at home, the players have made the nation proud.”

Politicians from all areas congratulated the team on their victory.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the team on their victory in a post on X.

“After 22 years, Pakistan has defeated Australia at home, and in convincing fashion!” he wrote.

Senator Sherry Rehman congratulated the team in a post on X, adding: “This victory is the result of teamwork, hard work and playing with unity.”

Former human rights minister Shireen Mizari also congratulated the team on an “outstanding series win against Australia in Australia”.

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori in a congratulatory post said, “This victory has made the entire nation, especially the cricket fans, happy.”

In addition to politicians, former cricketers also praised the green shirts' performance.

Former cricketer Shahid Afridi congratulated the team with a post on X.

Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood described the victory as “a real show of character, coming back after one game to win the series.”

England cricketer Kevin Pietersen said: “Put politics aside and let the cricket do the talking!”

Former cricketer Wasim Akram termed the series win against the ODI world champions as a great success.

He added: “Having watched and commented on this series, I feel honored.”

Cricketer Shadab Khan also celebrated the team's victory in a post.

Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers also reported on Pakistan's win in Australia.

Cricket presenter Zainab Abbas also reported on the win. She said it was “nice to see the Pak boys win with top-notch pace bowling”.
